CDC?s Procurement and Grants Office has published a request for application announcement entitled, ?Public Health Emergency Preparedness.? $862,000,000 [this amount is an estimate, and subject to the availability of funds] will be available in fiscal year 2005 to fund every state and territory. The purpose of this program is to upgrade and integrate State and local public health jurisdictions? preparedness for and response to terrorism and other public health emergencies with Federal, State, local, and tribal governments, the private sector, and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs). These emergency preparedness and response efforts are intended to support the National Response Plan (NRP) and the National Incident Management System (NIMS) .
